New Season
Posted by Gabriela under Build Season
After watching the animation for the challenge the season, I was amazed at how many points lifting and stacking another robot was worth. The challenge is very different from last year’s. We are required to place innertubes onto a spider, aligning them as if playing tic tac toe. A difficulty I am expecting we will face is the problem of keeping our robot from flipping another robot. When we brainstormed on possible designs, I came to understand that weight plays a crucial role in building a stable robot. Depending on the height of our robot will correspond to how much it should weigh.
In the animation that showed the challenge, the robot that stacked the other robots had enough space to place them on top of itself. Seeing this earned them a lot of points. Another factor that I needed to consider is the agility of our robot, to be able to withstand at the least two hundred pounds without damaging its frame and its gears inside it. I will see how it turns out.
