Team 1538

Well, there isn’t much to do right about now, not having the game, but I suppose I can tell you a little about myself.  First of all, I must tell you,
I probably won’t be posting as much as other members of the FIRST team.  I will post sometimes, but I am not as social as other members, that’s just the way it is. I am an avid reader (Science Fiction/Fantasy is the only way to go) and I am also interested in physics/engineering (yes, i realize those aren’t the same thing).  I want to design airplanes, fly them, and teach physics at either the High school or college level.  Either way, this FIRST experience will teach more both paths that I could take.

Oh, and by the way, I am (as is commonly known by the philistines) a grammar nazi, so be forewarned.

My name is Greg Stiasny an I’m a junior at HTH. I joined FIRST robotics because i have always had an interest in engineering. I’m hoping to be able to do a lot of assembly this year. Since we don’t know the game that FIRST has for us this year, the Design/Build team we have has been reviewing the tools found on our class.

Hello, my name is Rachel Azhocar. This is my second year being a member of the Robotics team. I went to a couple of competitions last year, but I didn’t have time to fully be a part of last year’s team. Hopefully this will change this year….and well…I think I’ll have fun. Ok. Bye.

Hello all. My name is Brittany Parker and for those of you who do not know me I am the Dirrector of Mechanical Design and Build for our robotics team, The Holy Cows. I am strongly looking forward to this season mainly because I finally have a lead role in the team. I love being able to think that I can really make a difference in this team. As mentioned, I am dirrecting the build part of this team and am lucky to have a couple of really great members dedicated and interested in building as much as I am. Hopefully, our team will be able to accomplish the great task of making a robot for the game to come. It is officially announced in two days and along with everyone else, I cannot wait.

One of the main issues that I, along with my other fellow dirrectors, will be trying to push this year, is women in engineering, science and technology. Since the three dirrectors of the team are all women, we have decided to embrace this role and reach out to the other women in the school and the community. I am glad to say that there is a total of 5-6 girls on our team so far, which is double what we had last year. It is a great improvement and we all encourage everyone to participate in FIRST.

Well, I’m looking forward to what is coming and hope that we will all have fun.
